Workers’ compensation is a no-fault insurance coverage that employers carry to cover work-related injuries, illnesses, death of their employees. The exclusive remedy in New Jersey to receive compensation for their work-related accident is workers’ compensation. In circumstances in which the employees suffer and injury or illness related to their employment, they may need to seek medical treatment for their health. After notifying the employer of the job-related accident, the employee may submit his worker’s compensation claim for the employer or the insurance provider to review. To prove the nature and severity of the injuries or illnesses, the employee must seek medical care.

Under New Jersey workers’ compensation laws, the employer must provide the injured employee healthcare providers for medical, surgical, hospital, and other medical care needed to treat, cure, and relieve the effect of the injury and restore the function to the employee. If the employer refuses or neglects to provide providers, the employee may get his own doctors, treatments, and health services. The employer would be responsible for paying for the doctors chosen by the employee.
